Datawrite Titanium Silver 8x DVD-R has long been a staple product here at Topdiscs. We were one of the first companies to stock the discs and it was clear from the off that we had a winner. The whole concept of the Titanium is to make a disc that's a cut above the rest but at a great price. That's what they have done. Opening the pack, you will find the familiar dark grey discs with the Titanium logo in chunky lettering. The finish of the disc is practical and classy.

On the other side of the Titanium DVD-R is the dye. Datawrite decided to work really hard on the polycarbonate layer on these discs to make sure that the integrity of burned data was maintained for a long time. They seem to have succeeded. Many customers report perfect burns after using many packs of these. Certainly, the failure rate seems to be very low, as it is with all Datawrite Titanium discs. Along with the Titanium printable DVD-R, these discs will usually have a CMC dye, either AE1 or AM3, both of which we have found to be superb. Sometimes we get a batch with TTH02 or a Mitsibushi dye which are also superior.

So, while the concept of the manufacture remains intact, it's important to make sure your writer's firmware is up to date when using these as they try to use the latest cutting edge dye technologies. Very good DVD-R. I always buy titanium discs as they seem more consistant than others. Why are they called silver though? They are grey! Anon.
