Which Blank Media should I buy?

Blank Media is just like anything else in life. You generally get what you pay for. When choosing blank media it’s important to think about what you are going to use it for and what equipment you wish to use it on. There are many formats in the blank media minefield and it can be confusing for many. We hope this mini guide will help you choose the correct blank media for your needs. For general use, we would recommend mid range media like Ritek, Datawrite, CMC, Datasafe and Ridisc. Lets say you need to record TV shows or do non critical backups. There’s no real need to spend a huge amount on blank media for those purposes, unless you just like the best stuff (guilty as charged!). Also, do you want to record the disc once and then discard, or do you wish to re-record the blank media many times? It’s also very important to make sure the firmware of your writing equipment is up to date. Many discs are wasted through outdated firmware. If you need your blank media to really perform or need long term storage then your choice should be Verbatim, Taiyo Yuden, TDK, Philips etc. If you are willing to stretch, we always recommend Verbatim blank media as the number 1 choice.
